Robe ROBIN MMX Spots, LED Wash 600s and 600E Beam moving lights made their presence felt at the 2012 Brutal Assault Festival (BA) – a popular Czech Metalfest - staged an old army fortress in Jaroměř, Czech Republic.
The Robes and other lighting was supplied by top Czech rental company TD Promo SRO from Prague, who supplied lighting production to the two Main (Jägermeister and Metal Shop) Stages and the Budwar Club Stage.
A dangerously heavy international line up included Machine Head, Ministry, Immortal, Moonspell, Napalm Death, Paradise Lost, Six Feet Under and many more, enabling 15,000 hardcore metal-headz to enjoy 90 bangingly loud bands across the four day event.
The two imposing Jägermeister and Metal Shop main stages were identical and were erected side by side in the main arena, operated in ‘flip-flop’ style, with one band setting up while the previous act was playing for impressively short changeovers and a near uninterrupted sonic assault for the delighted fans.
The production lighting designers were Lukáš Patzenhauer (Jägermeister), Marek Nespechal and Tomáš Novák (Metal Shop) and Adam Dufek (Club Stage), all of them great advocates of the Robe brand.
This is not just because it’s Czech, but because “Robe moving lights offer the best and most flexible options at the moment” states TD Promo’s Production Manager Matĕj Mantlík.
TD promo has a large stock of Robe fixtures and – after looking at the specs for many of the bands – they knew that they would be able to fulfil their requirements.
The total Robe count per main stage was ten MMX Spots, six ROBIN 600E beams and 12 LEDWash 600s - doubled for the two stages.
Matĕj comments, “The MMX Spot is ideal because of its light weight and multiple features. During the Festival, we really made use of the huge zoom and the very precise focus”.
They also designed their own gobos including one of the BA logo which was projected around the stage. All their technicians love the fact that changing gobo is such a straightforward process!
The LEDWash 600 they like for its fabulous colour mixing and again the zoom range, together with the low power consumption and very light weight.
Many of the bands brought their own LDs and operators who could choose between grandMA2 and Avolites control surfaces for running their shows.
